iStrat app for iPhone and iPad

Have you ever sat in a meeting and wanted to know what the chronostratigraphy of a Norwegian basin is? This is the perfect tool for you. iSTRAT provides petroleum explorationist and geologist alike with an easy to use overview of the stratigraphic units, depositional environments and tectonic events of many of the primary hydrocarbon provinces of offshore Norway and surrounding areas. It has been compiled by the technical team at Noreco (Norwegian Energy Company) and is based on the many years of experience working in the area combined with academic publications.

Use the app to select the relevant basin and then zoom into the required geological period. One may then scroll through time from the Silurian to Quaternary and view the stratigraphic units and their lithology. By turning on the Tectonics, major tectonic events are shown. A full legend is also available.
